Study: Life average in Missouri's Capital City

In a new ranking of the best state capital cities to live in, Jefferson City comes in right around the middle of the pack.

A data analysis by WalletHub puts Jefferson City at No. 23, with Austin, Texas, on top and Jackson, Mississippi, at No. 50.

"Often perceived as socially drab lawmaking centers, many state capitals actually are thriving hubs of activity and thus some of the most livable places in America," WalletHub wrote. "But not all state capitals are created equal. And though 17 of them are the largest cities in their states, the biggest population doesn't always represent the best quality of life."

The survey had four individual performance metrics. Of the 50 states, Jefferson City was ranked 10 in affordability, 21 in economic well-being, 36 in quality of education and health, and 32 in quality of life.
