Applications sought for United Way grants

Applications for the 2017 Community Support Grant are now available to nonprofit health and human service agencies through the United Way of Central Missouri. This year, up to $80,000 will be available under the one-time grant offers to qualifying agencies.

"It is with thanks to the incredible generosity of our community that we were able to surpass our 2016 campaign goal and have the opportunity to provide this vital support in the form of one-time grants to area agencies to address critical, unmet needs in Central Missouri," Mike Hoelscher, United Way of Central Missouri Board chairman, said.

The grants are open to agencies serving Central Missouri communities including Cole, Moniteau, Osage, Miller, Morgan, Camden and Southern Callaway counties. Grants will be awarded to agencies under the conditions that:

The monies must be used to further the mission of the United Way to help people in need addressing the areas of food, shelter, education, employment, health or transportation.

The grantees must have measurable outcomes.

The grantees must have been in operation for two or more years.

"The United Way of Central Missouri is proud to play a small role in the difference local health and human service agencies are making in our community through Community Support Grants," Ann Bax, president of the United Way of Central Missouri, said. "In addition to the $80,000 in grant funding, the United Way of Central Missouri will provide $1.342 million in funding support to its 28 partner agencies in 2017."

Applications must be submitted through the online grant system at unitedwaycmgrants.communityforce.com by March 31. Awards will be made in early June. For more information, visit unitedwaycemo.org.
