Jefferson City man facing drug charges

A Jefferson City man is facing several drug-related charges.

As of Friday, Jordan Stokes, 30, was being held in the Cole County Jail on $90,000 bond.

He is charged with one count each of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a defaced firearm.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows members of the Mustang Drug Task Force and the Jefferson City Police Department served a narcotics and firearms search warrant Thursday at Stokes' residence in the 5600 block of Ravenwood Drive.

Stokes was taken into custody, and authorities found a loaded .38-caliber revolver that had been stolen from Holts Summit with the serial number scratched off. They also found a double barrel 12-gauge shotgun hanging on a bedroom wall. Under his bed, they found a loaded semi-automatic 9 mm pistol and a Ruger rifle. The rifle had scuff marks where the serial number is located, which made it appear somebody tried to remove them. The rifle also was found to have been stolen out of Cole County.

In the basement garage, authorities found a cooler with methamphetamine, a jar with marijuana, Alprazolam pills, baggies used for narcotics packaging, a working digital scale and other paraphernalia.

Stokes was also in possession of nearly $4,000 in cash when he was taken into custody.

Stokes, who is a convicted felon, said he knew he couldn't legally possess firearms, and he admitted he is a meth user and distributor. He said he had been selling an average of about a half-ounce of meth every one to two weeks.
