Warrenton man arrested after chase

One person was taken into custody following a pursuit Saturday evening in Osage County.

Sheriff's department reports show deputies were patrolling the Chamois area and attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation and eventually found that it had been stolen out of Montgomery City.

The stolen vehicle sped up and tried to elude deputies by driving through fields that had been prepared for planting.

The driver, later identified as Shawn Korschgen, 41, of Warrenton, turned his headlights off and attempted to go through a ditch, but the vehicle became immobilized.

Korschgen then fled on foot and deputies setup a perimeter and started a search for Korschgen who was eventually apprehended.

Further investigation found that earlier Saturday, Korschgen had eluded Rolla police and the Missouri Highway Patrol troopers in Phelps County and earlier in the week had eluded officers in Pulaski County.

Korschgen admitted to deputies that he was using narcotics and tampered with several vehicles as well as being involved in several pursuits with law enforcement over the last week. Court records also showed Korschgen has a long criminal background.

As of Sunday, Korschgen was being held in the Osage County Jail on multiple charges with other charges pending from other jurisdictions.
