Tebbetts man charged in thefts

Criminal charges have been filed against a Tebbetts man regarding several theft-related investigations in the southern part of Callaway County - around Holts Summit, Tebbetts and Mokane.

The charges are the result of investigation by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of the Cole County Sheriff's Office.

Joseph Green has been charged in the following cases:

On Jan. 17, the Callaway County prosecuting attorney charged Green with first-degree burglary in connection with a break-in at a Holts Summit business this past September.

On Jan. 22, Green was charged with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property in connection with a burglary in Tebbetts this past December.

On Jan. 25, Green was charged with two counts of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle - the first in relation to a November residential burglary and vehicle theft in the Mokane area, and the second in relation to the theft of a commercial motor vehicle from a Holts Summit business in September.

As of Monday afternoon, Green was being held on $23,500 bond on the Callaway County charges and without bond on various Cole County warrants for burglary, possession of a controlled substance and theft of a firearm.

Cole County authorities charged Green in January with breaking into a business and stealing a vehicle in November. He was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree tampering.

In the November incident, deputies responded to the 2900 block of Renns Lake Road in reference to a vehicle stolen from the lot of Braun Auto. It was discovered someone had broken into the business, took the keys for this vehicle and drove it off the lot.

After reviewing security video, Green was identified as the person who had broken into the business.
