Bernie Fechtel challenged state Sen. Mike Kehoe to a Red Kettle ring-off Saturday morning as part of The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign, but Kehoe came out victorious.

Fechtel, who is president of Fechtel Beverage and chair of this year's Red Kettle Campaign, challenged longtime friend Kehoe to the ring-off that took place at Hy-Vee. The ringing began at 9:30 a.m., with Kehoe going until 10 a.m. and Fechtel until 11 a.m.

Members of the public were encouraged to come out and support their favorite local celebrity by donating to their kettle.

Though Kehoe won, the two scored a joint victory of collecting $11,407.95.
