Central Bank featured on historical society ornament

The Cole County Historical Society is selling Christmas tree ornaments featuring the Central Bank building as part of its annual Keepsake Ornament collection.

Proceeds from the sale of the ornaments, which cost $20, help support the operation of the historical museum at 109 Madison St.

The 2017 ornament commemorates the contributions made to the community by Central Bank, which began operations Jan. 9, 1902, as well its founder, Sam Baker Cook and his family.

The historical society has produced an ornament each year since 1986 to celebrate historically significant people, items and buildings.

The ornaments can be purchased at the museum, Superhair, Samuel's Tuxedo, Carrie's Hallmark, Cottonstone Gallery, Southbank, Midwest Travel, Merle Norman and Founding Fathers. Ornaments from previous years can be purchased at the museum.
