Cole County Engineer Eric Landwehr received the Public Works Leader of the Year award from the Missouri chapter of American Public Works Association during Tuesday's Cole County Commission meeting.

The primary focus of this award is recognition of leadership and management in the public works profession.

Since joining the Cole County Public Works Department in 2005, Landwehr has overseen construction of numerous stormwater and street improvement projects and bridge replacements throughout the county.

County officials said Landwehr was instrumental in completing the curb and gutter improvement project on Business 50 West in 2014 - the largest project Cole County has completed to date. He also is credited with working to implement a proactive pavement preservation program and bridge maintenance program in the county.

Landwehr has been a member of the APWA since starting work with the county in 2005. In 2008, he was elected to the executive committee as director and has served in several leadership positions, including president of the Missouri chapter in 2015.
