A wrongful death lawsuit was filed last week against St. Joseph's Bluffs, a Lutheran Senior Services community in Jefferson City, in connection with the July 24 death of former resident Margaret Eads.
Eads' daughter, Shirley Gerling, alleges the 1306 W. Main St. assisted living facility violated the Missouri Omnibus Nursing Home Act, which outlines the regulations for convalescent, nursing and boarding homes.
Gerling claims the staff at St. Joseph's Bluffs used defective linen equipment, which caused Eads to develop a severe rash and suffer from chemical burns between June 15-30.
Gerling's suit alleges the injuries caused Eads tremendous physical and emotional pain until her death.
The case has been assigned Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem. No hearings have been set.
