Jefferson City woman accused of welfare fraud

A Jefferson City woman has been charged with welfare fraud.

Court documents show Casaundra Joyce Sanders-Gottfried, 31, faces one count of unlawfully receiving public assistance benefits.

She did not report to state welfare officials she was married and she received nearly $6,900 in food stamp benefits from August 2014 through October 2016.

Sanders-Gottfried also received health benefits from August-October 2014 and January-April 2015 that if she had reported she was married would have required her to pay a premium to the state of $1,203.
