A $1,000 reward is being offered as law officers continue their investigation into a murder that occurred in June in Cole County.
On Friday, the Cole County Sheriff’s Department announced its investigation in the shooting death of Deon Thompson is continuing.
Sheriff John Wheeler said a person of interest had been identified, but no one is in custody. They hope by offering the reward they can get more information that will help build a case.
The few details the sheriff’s department could release were that deputies were called on the morning of June 11 to the 5200 block of Collier Court in reference to a gunshot victim. There, deputies found Thompson, 35, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
There was no word on what led to the shooting.
Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is urged to call Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS.
