Reward offered in Cole County murder case

A $1000 reward is being offered as law officers continue their investigation into a murder that occurred in June in Cole County.

Friday, the Cole County Sheriff's Department announced that their investigation into the shooting death of Deon Thompson is continuing.

Sheriff John Wheeler said they had a person of interest in this case, but no one is in custody. They hope that by offering the reward they can get more information that will help build their case.

The few details the sheriff's department could release were deputies were called on the morning of June11 to the 5200 block of Collier Court in reference to a gunshot victim. There, deputies found Thompson, 35, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

There was no word on what led to the shooting.

Anyone with information that could help in this investigation is urged to call Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS.
