"After my mother Verna Hodge passed away, " Rachel (Hodge) Call said, "I became inspired after reflecting on how she lived her life. She was a generous person and always helped anyone in need. Her favorite biblical story was Joseph and his coat of many colors."

This served as a beginning point for writing the book. "I decided to write a children's book based off of this story (of Joseph and the coat of many colors) and the inspiration my mother left behind. The book teaches how the importance of being kind to others even if we feel they are different than us."

Call attended elementary, middle and high school in California, graduating in 2000. She earned a B.S. in business administration and is an independent contractor for Needle.com. She is married to another California graduate, Stephen Call, Class of 1996, who is and instructor for the 102nd training division at Ft. Leonard Wood. They are parents of four children, ages 2, 5, 7 and 14. The youngest three were adopted from foster care in 2016. A sibling group, Rachel and Stephen felt it was important to keep them together.

Rachel commented that she actually has some spare time, in which she enjoys hobbies of reading, writing, astronomy, and "binge-watching Netflix."

In addition, "the hobbies I love doing with my children are camping, swimming, canoeing, bicycle riding and nature walks," she said. She plans to be at the Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival in September offering a book signing. The hardback children's book is available at several places including Amazon, eBay and more.

" I hope this book brings happiness and teaches the importance of kindness. Kindness is free, sprinkle it everywhere!" Call said.
