Two fugitives caught in Callaway County

Two people were arrested after a search warrant was served Wednesday morning in Callaway County.

Deputies responded at approximately 10:30 a.m. to Evergreen Apartments near Holts Summit, off State Road AA, in attempt to serve a felony arrest warrant on a wanted fugitive thought to be staying in the apartment complex, according to Callaway County Sheriff's Department reports.

While deputies were searching an apartment, they encountered another wanted fugitive, Lacey Piley, 28, of Holts Summit. It was determined Piley was wanted by authorities in the Kansas for a felony violation of a court order. While arresting Piley, a second subject, Leon Walden, 36, of Holts Summit, was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol. Walden was determined to have a previous felony conviction out of South Carolina, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm under state and federal law.

Both Walden and Piley were transported to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office. Walden posted a bond of $4,500 for a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and was released pending a court date. As of Wednesday afternoon, Piley was in custody without bond awaiting extradition back to Kansas.
