Jefferson City woman gets probation for child abuse

A Jefferson City woman has been placed on one year of unsupervised probation for pleading guilty to an amended charge in connection with a child abuse investigation.

Cherrian Jones, 25, was taken into custody after authorities investigated a call to the Child Abuse Hotline.

Jones admitted to inflicting cruel punishment upon a female child under age 17 by spanking her and using a belt that left welts on her lower torso. The child also said Jones had hit her twice in the eye, leaving red and purple coloring under her right eye and swelling.

Jones pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child. Probation conditions include wearing an electronic monitoring shackle of 20 days, along with completing anger management and parenting classes.
