More charges filed in Pulaski County animal abuse case

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- Three people have been charged with animal abuse after dead cats, rabbits, turtles, chickens and a dog were found inside a Missouri home and other abandoned animals were rescued from outside.

KOLR-TV reports that 58-year-old Deborah Peters faces 30 counts of felony animal abuse as a prior offender. She previously pleaded guilty to animal abuse in Morgan County.

Thirty misdemeanor animal abuse charges also have been filed against 20-year-old Michelle Peters and 23-year-old Anthony Sisto.

After the mistreated animals were found last month in Richland, three counts each were filed against the suspects. The additional charges stem from the identification of other animals.

Deborah Peters' attorney didn't immediately return a phone message from The Associated Press. No attorneys are listed for the other two in online court records.
