An 8-year-old Jefferson City boy was hit by a car while riding his bike after failing to yield to a car Saturday evening.
Police said a car driven by Kelly Ray Lewis, 56, Jefferson City, was eastbound on South Ten Mile Drive at about 7:28 p.m. when his vehicle struck the boy.
The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to University Hospital in Columbia, with moderate but not life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police did not name the boy.
Lewis was wearing a seat belt, police said.
