School superintendents to speak at panel

A panel discussion with area school superintendents is planned at the Callaway County Democratic Club meeting on May 1.

The event will be 7 p.m. at KACO, 600 Commons Drive (next to C&R Market) in Fulton. It is free and open to the public.

The program will focus on Missouri's education system and how considered legislative changes could affect public schools in Callaway County. Topics to be discussed include school choice, school vouchers, charter schools and foundation funding.

The school superintendents invited to participate in the panel discussion include Jacque Cowherd, Fulton Public Schools; Kevin Hillman, South Callaway R-2; Larry Linthacum, Jefferson City Public Schools (which includes Holts Summit); Bryan Thomsen, North Callaway R-1; David Tramel and incoming superintendent Sarah Wisdom, New Bloomfield R-3.

There will be a question and answer period.
