Stolen items recovered in Moniteau County

A search for stolen items from another county led authorities to take two people into custody in Moniteau County.

According to reports from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department, deputies went to a residence in Fortuna on an outside agency assist for the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

Morgan County had a suspect in a theft from a retail establishment in Versailles and found that the suspect was living in Moniteau County at a residence in Fortuna.

Moniteau County deputies went to the Fortuna residence and recovered the stolen items from Morgan County and also located methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with an 18 month old child.

The two taken into custody were identified as Matthew J. Hamm, 35, and Ashley F. Ferrier, 32. Both were issued a summons for possession of marijuana and as of Thursday afternoon were being held in custody for other formal charges to be filed.
