Pedestrian struck, injured

The Jefferson City Police Department traffic unit is investigating a Sunday afternoon accident where a Jefferson City man was struck by a vehicle apparently while walking in an intersection.
Police reports show that at 2:41 p.m., the Jefferson City Police Communications Center began receiving 911 calls about the crash near the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and U.S. 50/63.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and found Kenyon Reed, 55, in the roadway bleeding from his head. He was taken from the scene to a local hospital and then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.
Information from witnesses indicated the vehicle, driven by Geneva Parthenopoulos, 34, of Holts Summit, was eastbound on 50/63 at Missouri, facing a green light, when Reed stepped into the roadway and was struck.
Parthenopoulos was not injured and was not wearing a seat belt. Three children with her were not in required child restraint devices.
