Authorities arrested a Jefferson City man Wednesday for possession of child pornography.
Nicholas E. Fitzgerald, 39, was taken into custody after what authorities said was a lengthy investigation conducted by members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control's Digital Forensics Investigative Unit.
Investigators served a search warrant at Fitzgerald's residence in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street and located child pornography and computer equipment used to commit the crime.
Fitzgerald was transported to the Cole County Jail.
Thursday, the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office formally charged Fitzgerald with 17 counts of felony possession of child pornography.
Fitzgerald is being held on an $80,000 bond.
