Program explaining farm leases coming to Audrain County

MEXICO, Mo. - Farm leases are an important topic for both landlords and tenants. Each party wants to be sure the agreement is fair and equitable.

A Farm Lease Program covering a variety of lease concerns will be held 6-9 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Audrain County Courthouse Basement Community Room, 101 N. Jefferson St., Mexico. The same program will also be held in Keytesville, Kahoka, Salem, Hannibal, Troy, Alton and Maryville.

This program requires pre-registration by Sept. 16. Registration forms are available from the Audrain Extension Center or extension.missouri.edu/audrain There is a fee for the class, which includes class materials and a light supper.

The class will cover how to terminate a lease, determining rental rates for farms, items to include in a lease, keeping livestock and crop share agreements fair and recreational (hunting) leases.

The program will be presented by University of Missouri Extension specialists who have worked in this area for many years.

This program is being offered via distance education. The presenters will be at various sites. For more information, contact Mary Sobba at 573-581-3231. University Extension programs are open to all interested persons.
