Ex-employee arrested for burglary at store

A former employee of a Jefferson City wireless phone store was arrested after a burglary at the store early Monday morning.

According to police reports, just after 4:30 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at Metro PCS, located in the 2100 block of Missouri Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found the front glass door had been shattered, as well as an open back door. A search within the business revealed loose cash and drops of blood.

Information on a prior burglary on Oct. 20 indicated a possible suspect in that case, which led investigators to believe the two break-ins were related.

The suspect, Gregory D. Young Jr., 24, was contacted at his residence in Holts Summit, where evidence linking him to this burglary was found. Young was arrested and brought to the Police Department for questioning and was later transported to the Cole County Jail.

Young is facing charges of second-degree burglary and property destruction for today's crime, and a charge of second-degree burglary for the break-in at the same location Oct. 20.
