Two Jefferson City men were arrested after a robbery Sunday night in the Capital City.
Kane Carpenter, 17, was taken into custody for first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Robert Scott, 19, was arrested for first-degree robbery.
Officers responded at 7:49 p.m. to a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Capitol Avenue and Lafayette Street, according to police reports.
The caller said he was walking in the area when he was approached by two males who asked to use his cellphone. When he refused, one of the suspects threatened the victim and implied he had a gun, demanding he turn everything over. The victim handed the suspects his iPhone and electronic cigarette, and the suspects then fled the area.
Responding officers contacted the victim, who was able to provide a description of both suspects. Other officers canvassed the area and located Carpenter and Scott, who matched the suspect descriptions, a short distance away at Cherry Street and Commercial Way. Both men were positively identified as the suspects and were taken into custody, and the stolen iPhone was recovered. No weapon was found on or near the suspects.
Both suspects were transported to the Cole County Jail. The victim was not harmed during the robbery.
