Alcohol a factor in JC injury accident

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in a one vehicle crash early Monday morning in Jefferson City.

According to police reports, the crash occurred in the 1100 block of US 50/63 East, in the westbound lanes, just after 12:30 a.m.

Jon Tolen, 35, Jefferson City, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the center concrete median.

The vehicle then crossed the roadway to the right and ran off the right side of the road and onto the westbound ramp from Clark Avenue and struck a guardrail.

Jon Tolen was taken to Capital Region Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and his passenger, Denise Tolen, 34, Jefferson City, was taken to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.

Neither person was wearing a seat belt. One lane of the road was closed for approximately an hour while the crash was investigated.
