Trio of shootings still under investigation

Jefferson City police continue to seek help from the public with three recent shootings, two of which were fatal.

The latest occurred early Saturday morning and left one person with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police reports, around 4:30 a.m., the 911 Center received several calls in reference to shots fired in the 400 block of Vetter Lane. Officials at Capital Region Medical Center later called and stated they had a gunshot wound victim who was transported to a hospital in Columbia.

The victim was a 20-year-old male, and the suspect and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

Police officials also said the investigation into the shooting death of a 25-year-old Jefferson City man on the evening of Aug. 21 is still open.

The weapon responsible for the death of the victim is in police custody, but no suspect is in custody, and the incident has not been classified as a homicide.

One person was taken into custody immediately after the shooting, but that person was later released.

A Jefferson City Area CrimeStoppers $1,000 cash reward still is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the death of a Jefferson City man in August.

Detectives are seeking assistance from the public in finding the suspect or suspects responsible for the murder of William "Bill" Crawford, 50.

He was killed at his residence in the 1900 block of Stadium Boulevard between 8:53 p.m. Aug. 19 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 20.

He last was seen on video Aug. 19, leaving Schulte's Fresh Foods, 1904 Southwest Blvd.

Crawford died from a gunshot wound, but police haven't released more details of their investigation.
