One killed in crash that shut down US 63 between Freeburg and Vienna

A Dixon woman was killed after a four vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Maries County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred on U.S. 63 five miles north of Vienna around 5:15 a.m.

Sheryl Hughes, 59, struck a vehicle driven by Ryan Gascon, 21, Rolla, head-on. Hughes then went off the right side of the road.

Gascon then collided with a vehicle driven by Pamela Boyer, 32, Vichy. 

A vehicle driven by Brent Rasmussen, 44, Dixon, struck debris from the previous crash.

Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three drivers had no reported injuries. 

The road was closed for about five hours while the crash scene was cleared.

Update posted at 10:20 a.m.: All lanes of U.S. 63 have been reopened at Maries County Road 302, the scene of an earlier wreck north of Vienna.

 

Update posted at 9:50 a.m.: One lane of U.S. 63 has been reopened north of Vienna. One lane remains closed. Delays are still likely.

All lanes of U.S. 63 are closed now until mid-to-late-morning due to a crash north of Vienna.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reports the detour around the crash site is routed through Koelztown via Routes P, T and AA. Motorists should expect delays.
