More than 200 attend law enforcement unity BBQ

There were more than 200 present and past law enforcement officers, their families, friends and supporters attended a unity dinner barbecue Thursday, Nov. 17, at Centennial Hall.

The event was put together by Tony Wheatley, who will take office as Moniteau County Sheriff on Jan. 1, 2017. His purpose for the dinner was to get as who are involved in law enforcement and their supporters together to get acquainted or become better acquainted, before he takes office.

Those who joined the incoming sheriff at the event included several troopers of the Missouri Highway Patrol, sheriff's officers from Moniteau and Morgan counties, Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty, police officers from California, Clarksburg, Jamestown, Tipton and more, 911 emergency dispatch personnel, county jail officers, Moniteau County Prosecutor Shayne Healea, Camden County Prosecutor Doug Kinde, a member of the Missouri Probation and Parole Board, state legislators, Judge Peggy Richardson, area attorneys, bail bondsmen and more.

"It was a dinner for getting to know people," Wheatley said. "I had a lot of help, especially from Tyler (Clenin) and Burgher Haus."
