Raise money for Tuscumbia schools at Holiday Craft Bazaar

Miller County R-3 School District PTO members invite the community to its third annual craft bazaar from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Tuscumbia School gymnasium.

Attendance and vendors participating in this event have increased since its inception just a few years ago, Tuscumbia Schools PTO member Beth Fizer said. This year, 30 vendors will provide a variety of items for sale. In addition, each vendor will donate an item to raffle off to guests at the event.

Vendors include Pink Zebra, Paparazzi Jewelry, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Premier Jewelry, It Works, Damsel in Defense, Tastefully Simple, Lularoe, Magnabilities Jewelry, Mary Kay, Thirty-One Bags and 18 crafters.

"We've only been at it for three years; so it is still fairly new. We filled up all the booth spaces, which is awesome," Fizer said. "Concessions are also available, and we're creating a Christmas atmosphere with various Christmas music playing in the gym while (visitors) shop/look."

Like many PTO fundraisers and events, profits go toward a variety of programs to support Tuscumbia schools. Fizer said the money has been used for various duties the PTO performs, including teacher requests for classroom extras, a $500 scholarship, gas money for a bus to take children to swim lessons in the summer, school improvements and a $50 cash prize each semester to perfect attendance award winners.

"(Installing) water fountains is a main goal this year, as is completing the playground equipment grant from last year," Fizer said.

Fizer said the PTO also hosts some other large fundraisers and events, including catering the Tuscumbia Schools Alumni Dinner and Lincoln Day Dinner.

As the PTO Craft Bazaar grows each year, its members are excited to receive positive feedback from vendors and the community.

"More local crafters have been registering each year, which is good," Fizer said. "Most vendors are pleased and say it's well organized; several vendors have been coming all three years."
