The Cole County Sheriff's Department and Russellville-Lohman Fire Protection District are sponsoring a drug take-back event on Saturday.
The event runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the fire station, 5413 Route AA in Russellville.
Sheriff's Department officials said their last take back brought in over 40,000 pills.
A study from 2013 showed kids age 12-17 abuse prescription drugs more than ecstasy, heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamines combined. It also found that almost one in four teens in America say they have misused or abused a prescription drug.
Authorities said proper disposal of unwanted prescription medications will prevent possible misuse.
