Fayette principal moving to Blair Oaks

Corey Felten has been hired as the new assistant principal and district activities director at the Blair Oaks School District.

Felten is currently the high school principal in the Fayette School District.

According to Blair Oaks officials, Felten has 19 years of educational experience, spending the last three of those years in Fayette.

Prior to coming to Fayette, Felten spent seven years as an administrator in the Montgomery County R-2 School District. There he was high school principal, assistant high school principal and athletic director.

Before going into school administration, Felten was a classroom teacher for nine years.

Felten got his bachelor's degree in industrial technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, his master's degree in secondary administration from William Woods University and his special degree in educational administration also from William Woods.

Ryan Fick, who had been athletic director and assistant principal, is moving back into the classroom. He'll be teaching physical education at the high school and will stay as head basketball coach for the boys team.

"With the growth in activities of the district, the board has been looking at spreading the duties of activities director out," said Blair Oaks Superintendent Jim Jones. "That position has to wear many hats. Ryan's passion has been to be a coach and we appreciate him being in the director's position that last 10 years."
