Children in Mid-Missouri can explore their creativity at the Kemper Kids Summer Art Camp at William Woods University this summer.

Intended for children in grades K-8, the camp will be hosted in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts. Three five-day sessions will be offered from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Youngsters may choose to attend one or all of these sessions.

Green Art will be July 11-15. This camp will use recycled materials to create art.

Artist Colony will be July 18-22. This camp will feature drawing, painting, print making and more traditional materials and processes.

Art around the World will be July 25-29. This camp will feature the exploration of art created by other cultures.

"The amazing experience we had last summer in working with our campers set up the expectations for this upcoming season," said Nicole Petrescu, gallery coordinator. "We are organizing the camps as three consecutive weeks having different themes. Each theme gives us the opportunity to introduce different media and to create a variety of experiences for our young friends to enjoy."

Kemper Kids Summer Art Camp will help campers "unplug" from electronics while using their imaginations and exploring in settings designed to stimulate creative problem solving. The camp staff includes certified educators and WWU students specializing in visual arts and education.

Each session is $175. This includes all arts and crafts materials, camp T-shirt, daily snacks and drinks. Discounts are available for multiple-week attendance, additional siblings and WWU employees.

Before- and after-care will be provided upon request from 8-10 a.m., and 3-5 p.m. for $5 per hour. Lunch will be available upon request for $10 per day. A gallery exhibit of campers' work is planned for the final day of each session.

"We are looking forward to exhibiting campers' artwork at the end of each week and celebrating their accomplishments with family and friends, as well as the Fulton community," Petrescu said.

Registrations may be dropped off at Kemper Arts Center 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday-Friday until June 11 or mailed to Nicole Petrescu, Mildred Cox Gallery, William Woods University, One University Ave., Fulton, MO 65251.
