The Missouri Symphony Orchestra will hold its "Pops" concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in Cummings Auditorium of the School of the Osage on Highway 42 in Osage Beach.
When the Lake Arts Council was founded in 1983, one of the objectives was to provide symphonic music for the enjoyment of those who were missing that particular element of art in the Lake of the Ozarks atmosphere.
The Missouri Symphony is an unusual orchestra in that players, some 50 now, come from throughout the United States and around the world. They assemble each summer in Columbia for a music festival known as "Hot Summer Nights."
The ensemble of professional musicians presents a variety of concerts, 24 in 38 days, both in Columbia and surrounding communities.
A special feature in Saturday's concert, the orchestra will perform a selection composed by local resident Craig Cervantes with guest pianist and friend of Cervantes, Carol Schmidt, at the piano. The musical score, a tribute to the memory of Princess Diana of Wales, is titled "Queen of Hearts." This music was recorded by the London Symphony in 2015.

Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $5 for students in kindergarten through grade 12. They may be purchased at all branches of Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks, the Lake Arts Council office located in Stone Crest Mall, online through Eventbrite and at the door the evening of the concert.
