The SERVE Back-to-School Fair is scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Callaway Christian Church in Fulton.

School supplies will be provided cost-free for the first 800 pre-K to 12th-grade students. No proof of income is necessary.

This event is open to any student residing in Callaway County. Parents must be accompanied by a child, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

This is the fifth annual Back-to-School Fair hosted by SERVE Inc.

"The kids will start with four check-points that they must complete before getting their supplies," SERVE Outreach Director Brittany Lenhart said.

She said there also will be eye and dental exams, hearing tests and head checks.

"There will also be free haircuts available to start school looking your best," she added.

Steve Mallinckrodt, SERVE's executive director, said students may not receive every single school supply on every list.

"There may be 20 No. 2 pencils on a list, and we're only providing a dozen, but it's still going to get Callaway County students off to the right start and ease the burden of the cost of school supplies for many families," he said.

Every student also will receive a backpack. All they need to bring, Lenhart said, is proof of residency.

"People just need to bring their kids. Kids need to be with an adult," she said. "We also need the adults to bring a driver's license to show that they're residents of the county."

SERVE and Callaway Christian Church will be serving hot dogs between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The church is at 2051 S. Silver Drive, off U.S. 54.

"We're expecting over 800 kids," Lenhart said. "It's going to be quite the experience."
