The Moniteau County Fair and Agriculture and Mechanical Society will celebrate the 150th event Saturday and running through Aug. 6.
Organizers have brought back events from the past and added new ones to celebrate this milestone year.
Each night, except Aug. 2, nightly events will stop to observe fireworks fill the sky at 10 p.m.
A play has been written by volunteers with the Finke Theatre and will be performed following the Miss Moniteau County Scholarship and Little Mr. and Miss Moniteau contests, which begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the downtown theater.
And a memorial book has been compiled, filled with the last 150 years of fair history.
For youth, ages 2-18, the Tuff-N-Nuff Miniature Rodeo Association partnering with the Miniature Rodeo World Tour Association will host events including bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing and wild pony races. This event, organized by the Wooten Rodeo Company from Glen Allen, will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 3.
And, as a nod to the fair's origins, the Gaited Horse Show will return to the Moniteau County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. Aug. 6. This is in addition to the Sho-Me Circuit Horse Show, hosted by the Moniteau Saddle Club, at 10 a.m. Aug. 6.
Many standards from recent years will continue, such as the youth art show and judging of art and food entries, youth livestock shows, the parade at 5 p.m. Saturday, vesper services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, tractor pull at 6 p.m. Monday and the demolition derby at 4 p.m. Aug. 4.
