5 years probation issued for drug dealing

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute.

Kenneth Spears, 46, of 2728 Shagbark Circle, was also ordered to complete an alternative court program as part of his probation.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Spears was under investigation by members of the Mustang Drug Task Force.

Authorities served a narcotics search warrant at Spears' residence in April and found a black safe in his bedroom containing methamphetamine, a large amount of small baggies used for packing narcotics, two small digital scales and a large amount of clonazepam pills, a controlled substance.
