Janice Martin, local bluegrass musician and owner of Sho-Me Music Entertainment, is bringing a set of new artists to town to sound off the new year with a series of concerts at Avenue HQ in Jefferson City.

The Po' Ramblin Boys, featuring Missouri's own C.J Lewandowski and Gerald Jones, will take the stage Jan. 5, offering a night of traditional bluegrass music. The bluegrass musicians from Tennessee said "they want to be known for keeping old music alive," according to their website.

The band will be featured in the first concert of Martin's 2017 Missouri Sessions series.

Martin said audiences can expect an intimate setting where they will be able to enjoy the music.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Jan. 5, and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 at the door and can be purchased online at avenuehq.space/events/ or by calling 573-635-9199. Drinks will be provided by Gumbo Bottoms Ale House.

Future concerts in the Missouri Sessions series will be announced as artists are confirmed.

High Fidelity, a bluegrass band from Nashville, will kick off Martin's second concert series, The Sho-Me Music Up-Close Concert Series, on Feb. 18.

Two more performances in March and April will follow in this concert series.

"We're trying to create an atmosphere where you can get up close and personal with the bands," Martin said.
