Election filing opens

Filing began Tuesday for the April 4 municipal election. The filing ends Jan. 17.

The office of mayor is up for election in California, Clarksburg, Jamestown, Lupus and Tipton.

City council seats are also up for election. For the city of California, a city council seat is up in Ward 1, Ward 2 and Ward 3. In Clarksburg, a North Ward Alderman and South Ward Alderman will be elected. In Jamestown, filing is open for candidates for a seat in the East Ward and another in the West Ward. In the city of Tipton, one seat is up for Alderman East Ward and one for Alderman West Ward.

Filing is open in Lupus for candidates for city clerk, constable, street commissioner and board member.

Seats are up for election on local school boards. There are three seats each up for election for the boards of the following schools: California (Moniteau R-1), High Point (Moniteau R-3), Jamestown (Moniteau C-1), Latham (Moniteau R-5) and Tipton R-6. There are four seats up for election for the board of Clarksburg (Moniteau C-2). There are two seats up for election for the Prairie Home R-5 school board.

Candidates may file for two positions on the Moniteau County Health Center Board of Trustees.

Filing is open for the Mid-Mo Ambulance District Board for a seat to represent District 1 in Moniteau County and another for District 4 in Morgan County.

There is one position up for election for a six-year term on each of the four area fire districts - California Rural Fire Protection District, Tipton Rural Fire Protection District, Moreau Fire Protection District and Russellville-Lohman Fire Protection District.
