3 charged in multi-county burglar case

Three more people have been charged in connection with burglaries that occurred in Cole County and three other Mid-Missouri counties.

Brandon Wilkerson, 21, of Jefferson City, is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Caden Wilkerson, 23, of Jefferson City, is charged with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.

Hunter Ferguson, 21, of Jefferson City, is charged with receiving stolen property.

They join Stephan Whelan, 22, of Russellville, who was charged with felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

Cole County Sheriff Greg White said a deputy spotted and stopped a vehicle believed to be connected to a Moniteau County burglary Thursday evening. The suspects were taken into custody.

Following the traffic stop, Cole County detectives and deputies worked on the investigation with officers from Cooper, Moniteau and Miller counties, and served a search warrant at a Cole County residence in the 1200 block of Eagan Lane where the Wilkersons and Ferguson live.

White said several burglary cases from each county were solved. Recovered stolen property included television sets, laptop computers, electronic tablets, jewelry, firearms, cameras and numerous other items.

Brandon Wilkerson admitted to being involved in multiple burglaries including one in November in Cole County after which a handgun was recovered at a Miller County burglary. He said he committed the burglary and threw the stolen handgun out. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a glass pipe and methamphetamine.

Caden Wilkerson also admitted involvement in multiple burglaries while his girlfriend, Ferguson, said she accompanied him on several of them. A search of her vehicle turned up a stolen handgun.

Whelan was in possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana when he was arrested and admitted to participating in multiple burglaries.

All those involved said the stolen items were sold or traded for methamphetamine.
