If you're planning a Christmas or New Year's celebration, you're in luck - Jefferson City's giant party supply store is about to open just in time.

Party City plans to open its brand new Capital Mall store Dec. 23, mall manager Jamie Reed said.

The national retail chain markets itself as a "one-stop shopping destination for party supplies, balloons and costumes," according to the company's website.

The 11,500-square-foot store, located on the side of the mall facing South Country Club Drive, has its own external entrance and is located near Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts. Construction began on the store this summer.

The store's large footprint required some reconfiguration of Capital Mall's existing food court. Stir Fry 88, a carry-out Chinese-style restaurant that had been located near Fuji Japanese Steakhouse toward the mall's east end, closed temporarily in July as its new location was prepared.

Stir Fry 88 plans to open its new restaurant on the western side of the food court, across from Subway, on Dec. 19, Reed said.

The project also relocated High Voltage Arcade, which has been operating in the space that formerly housed Kirlin's Hallmark in the mall's Dillard's wing.
