A boil advisory is in effect at the Deer Haven Subdivision in Wardsville because of a water main breaky.
Approximately 80 homes are affected by the boil advisory. Homeowners were notified via email or by paper flyers.
Water to the subdivision was shut off around 10 a.m. Wednesday and samples of the water were submitted to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) lab to determine if there are any contaminants in the water, Wardsville Clerk Shirley Stockman said.
The boil advisory suggests residents "vigorously" boil water for five minutes before its consumed, she said.
Anyone with an ice-making refrigerator are probably safe to consume the ice cubs already made by the refrigerator because that water was likely drawn from the pipes before the break occurred, she said.
Officials were waiting on results from the DNR lab testing, and said it's likely the advisory will be lifted sometime this morning.
