Cole County man arrested on weapons charge in Holts Summit

A Cole County man was arrested in Holts Summit Friday evening on weapons charges.

At 6:30 p.m. Friday, law enforcement officials responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm at the 500 block of Redwood Drive. When officers arrived, George W. Knox, 37, of Eugene, displayed a shotgun in a threatening manner to officers, they said. He then left the scene in his car.

Holts Summit police officers located Knox shortly after and arrested him. Knox was in possession of a loaded shotgun and ammunition. He was taken to the Callaway County Jail on three felony charges: unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.

According to a news release from the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, Knox has past felony convictions in Miller County.

Knox posted bond Saturday and was released from jail, pending a court appearance.

The arrest was made from a joint effort of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, Missouri Highway Patrol and the Holts Summit Police Department.
