On Display: Daniel Fishback discusses waterscape painting

For artist Daniel Fishback, Plein Air painting is his favorite way to paint.

He enjoys being outdoors and seeing the beauty of nature first hand, and painting outdoors gives him dramatic light and shadow patterns, rich true colors, and the wonder only nature can provide.

During the month of September 2016, he was the Steelville Art Council's "Artist in Residence." During that month, he painted a series of waterscape paintings, did two demonstrations for high school art classes and taught a Plein Air workshop. The art council held an exhibition and sale at the end of the residency.

While primarily self-taught, he began taking workshops in 2014 from nationally acclaimed artists like Phil Starke, Roger Dale Brown, Scott Christenson, Shawn Cornell, John Lasater and CW Mundy.

His paintings are in corporate and private collections in the United States, and he has earned numerous awards and have had several solo shows. Commission requests are considered. He is a member of Art Saint Louis, Heartland Art Club, Missouri Valley Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America and Outdoor Painters Society.
