The Kay Brothers take Finke stage Feb. 9

The Kay Brothers will perform at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Finke Theatre.

The popular band with local ties performs traditional, old-time fiddle music and country blues. Their music draws on sibling harmonies accompanied by upright bass, guitar, tenor banjo, fiddle, cello, ukelele, harmonica, washboard, congas, shakers and foot percussion.

“Their songs are a collection of stories, often ancient in verse but timeless in meaning, and delivered with sunny reverence for this forgotten music bred to uplift from the tangle of struggles in a bygone era,” promotional material said.

Their mission is “to preserve the rural music of our forefathers and mothers that used to fill the wooden barns that once dotted the countryside on Saturday nights and the small family churches on Sunday mornings.”

Show sponsors are Edwina Kay, John and Patty Kay and VP Plumbing LLC/Dustin and Valerie Volkart.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for ages 14 and younger.
