Bittersweet Garden Club members Kathy Laur chats with a resident at Heisinger Bluffs on Jan. 28 during the “A Pop of Color for a Gloomy Day” workshop.

Residents of Heisinger Bluffs enjoyed "A Pop of Color for a Gloomy Day" workshop with Bittersweet Garden Club members Jan. 28.

The residents decorated containers and prepared hyacinth bulbs for growing in water. In six to eight weeks, they will enjoy the beautiful blooms and glorious fragrance of hyacinths.

Garden therapy projects allow club members to reach out and provide hands-on workshops to residents in independent and assisted living facilities. Through craft and gardening projects adults can develop skills and improve their social, psychological and physical well-being.
