MidMO PrideFest set for Saturday

MidMO PrideFest will return to Columbia this weekend, with a day of activities set to celebrate the local LGBTQ and ally community in Mid-Missouri.

The annual family-friendly event seeks to celebrate all members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, pansexual, asexual and ally community, according to the MidMO PrideFest website. In addition to live music, the event will include food and shop vendors, information on community organizations and a kid's zone that includes a bounce house and teen lounge.

Activities kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Music Hall with a street fair-like atmosphere. Stage performances will be held throughout the day, with the schedule as follows:

1 p.m. - Welcome

1:25 p.m. - The Unincorporated

2:20 p.m. - Dakota Wayne

3:10 p.m. - The Quorus

4 p.m. - Youth Talent

4:50 p.m. - The Ragged Blade Band

6 p.m. - The Blam Blams.

At 7 p.m., the Pride Royalty Show will begin, featuring an array of drag queens including Monica Beverly Hillz, who was on "RuPaul's Drag Race."

The annual event is planned and run by an all-volunteer staff.

While most of the day's activities are marketed as family-friendly, the event's Facebook page warns that after 8 p.m., activities will include Muse Pole Fitness and local burlesque performers.
