School of Performing Arts to bring classical Indian art forms to the stage Sunday

Presenting classical Indian and Asian art forms of dance, Sargam School of Performing Arts will present "Sargam: Where Music Meets Rhythm" on Sunday.

Having worked to bring a new cultural experience to Jefferson City, more than 40 students, ages 5-18, will take the stage throughout a variety of performances.

"It takes generations for these art forms for it to develop into perfection," Director Animpama Pillai said.

There will also be special guests attending the event including State Representative Dave Griffith, who will give a short speech before the performance.

The event is free to the public and will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Miller Performing Arts Center.

"We are looking forward to the show," Pillai said.
