Artists let imaginations run wild during Capital Chalk Art Fair

Families are invited to experience, music, creativity, fun and lots of street art during the Capital Arts' annual Capital Chalk Art Fair from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Park Amphitheater, 300 Ellis-Porter Drive.

Watch as the sidewalks come alive while participating artists of all ages will craft an original drawing using colored pastel chalk on the concrete at the amphitheater. Some artists may reproduce a renaissance painting, some my replicate a family photograph and others my conceptualize an abstract, portrait or some other unique piece. Their final design is up to them, and will be entered into a contest that will award cash prizes to winners.

The public is invited to come out, view the artists work and enjoy music and other activities during this free event, which is sponsored by Missouri Arts Council and Jefferson City Parks and Recreation.

In case inclement weather looks to cancel the event Saturday, Capital Arts will announce by 2 p.m. Friday on Capital Arts' website and Facebook page if the event will be rescheduled for a future date, as well as announce it to local media.
