Ring in the New Year during many local celebrations

Mid-Missouri is a haven when it comes to welcoming 2019 with friends or with the whole family.

A few days prior to New Year's Eve, families are encouraged to attend an annual tradition at Missouri River Regional Library - making New Year's hats and blowers. At 10:30 a.m. Dec. 28, families can create their own unique party hat and blower, allowing them to celebrate the new year in their own personal style.

Come check out the newly remodeled former LOMO Club during a New Year's Eve celebration. Owners invite the community to see the building's new facelift and celebrate its new life as The Branch, 3007 Route D, Lohman. Doors open at 5 p.m., Whiskey Throttle will perform and Steve's Family Style Restaurants will cater. A champagne toast will take place at midnight, and ticket holders will have a chance to win prizes, including cash. Tickets are $25 per person with only 225 available. Capital Ritz Banquet Center's annual bash will feature dinner and live music with Faded Youth. The event starts at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 with a catered Chinese buffet from Hibachi Grill Restaurant and cash bar. Finger foods will be available all night, with everyone enjoying party hats, noise makers and a champagne toast at midnight. Cost is $30 per person by Christmas Eve. In its 37th year, the annual New Year's Eve Celebration of Prayer will be 7-9 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda. Everyone is invited to celebrate God's blessings for the previous year and to prepare for the new year. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service at Riverwood Church at Jefferson City Christian Center.

Take the whole family to the 2019 New Years Party from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. at Sk8 Zone, 301 Flora Drive in Jefferson City. The party will include a balloon drop at midnight followed by a sparkling cider toast. The Starlight Memories Band will perform during the annual New Year's Eve Dance from 8 p.m.-midnight at the American Legion Post 5, 1423 Tanner Bridge Road. Sensationbl will host a New Year's Eve Party from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Dec. 31 at Capitol Plaza Hotel and Convention Center, 415 W. McCarty St. This chic and exuberant party offers signature luxury nightlife with premium drinks, food, party favors and live DJs that will turn up the dance floor with open format mixes of top 40, hip-hop, house, '70s, '80s and '90s mash-ups, and everything in between. Several other Jefferson City venues are hosting New Year's Eve events, with the new Capital Bluffs Event Center New Year's Eve celebration featuring music from Five Turn Knot selling out in early December. The Bridge, 619 E. Capitol Ave., will feature Down Side Up Plays the Decades New Year's Celebration at 6 p.m., and Disengaged will perform during a New Year's Eve Party at Spectator's, 232 E. High St. Phat Mike and the Bartenders will perform at 9 p.m. at The Mission, 915 E. High St.

Neighboring Mid-Missouri communities will also host a variety of celebrations. The Osage Drifters will perform 7 p.m.-midnight during the New Year's Eve Dance at the California Nutrition Center in California. Guests are asked to bring a finger food to share and dance the night away with a non-alcoholic toast at midnight. Admission is $10 per person.

Eldon Lanes will host a New Year's Eve 9 Pin Tournament starting at 8 p.m. Dec. 31. Participants will bowl four games, keeping the best three. The payout is 1:4, with brackets, strike pot tickets and 300 Club included in the tournament. Registration begins at 7 p.m. with practice starting at 8 p.m. A champagne toast for those 21 and older will be at midnight. The entry fee is $20. The Lake Area has several celebrations including the annual New Year's Eve party at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach. Spectrum, a nine-piece dance band, will perform while guests can enjoy an open bar, a magnificent dinner buffet, champagne toast and more from 6:30 p.m.-1 a.m. Families can also celebrate New Year's Eve together at Tan-Tar-A's Timber Falls Indoor Waterpark, with packages including carry out pizza for four, water park passes for four both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and more. Starting at 7 p.m., guests dressed in their finest Earthly or alien attire can enjoy dancing to DJs, a costume contest at 10:30 p.m. with a $50 gift certificate for the winner, a champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight, and light night snack buffet after midnight until close.
