Chris Jones and the Night Drivers will hit the Avenue HQ stage Friday, March 24, 2017 for the Show-Me Music Up Close concert series.

The Show-Me Music Up Close concert series will bring Jefferson City another dose of bluegrass music when Chris Jones and the Night Drivers hit the stage Friday at Avenue HQ.

Local bluegrass artist Janice Martin, whose Sho-Me Music Entertainment booking agency hosts the series, said she is excited to bring the group and its talents to town.

"They bring a progressive and to-the-roots style of bluegrass music to the music scene," Martin said. "Chris Jones is not only a great guitarist and vocalist and songwriter, but also his voice is very familiar to the radio world as he is one of the main DJs of Sirius XM radio for the bluegrass channel," Bluegrass Junction.

The four-piece band features Jones on lead vocals and guitar, along with bassist Jon Weisberger, Mark Stoffel on mandolin and Gina Clowes on banjo, according to the group's website.

Jefferson City is one of many stops the band will make to promote its brand new album, "Made to Move," which made No. 12 on Billboard's bluegrass chart. The musicians of Chris Jones and the Night Drivers are collectively winners of eight International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards.

Missouri-based Rural Roots Bluegrass Band will open the concert.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and can be purchased online at avenueHQ.space. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Friday. Gumbo Bottoms will provide beverages.
